I’ve been keeping lots of secrets from y’all. (Per the usual.) A big one is that my Sandover Beach series is coming to audio! Within the next 6-9 months, I’ll be releasing all the Sandover Island series in audiobook format.

First up: Sandover Beach Christmas.

Yes, it’s book four. But this series is fine to read as standalones. They connect, but not as much as some of my series.

If you haven’t read any of the Sandover Island books, here are a few differences between this and my more current series:

• They are dual POV
• They are written in third person (which means just one narrator in audio)
• The books have light Christian themes
• They are romance with humor but I wouldn’t call them romcoms

These books have a special place in my heart, but in many ways I feel like they were a training ground for my writing.

They helped me decide I don’t want to write Christian fiction, which is a weird thing to say. But I think for ME, it’s hard to fit faith into books because faith is messy. Real. Raw. And I think from a marketing perspective, it feels really hard for me to write what I’d want to about faith and also hit the market expectations. I don’t necessarily feel called to write fiction with faith, and I think these books helped me realize I didn’t want to write this kind of romance. Mad respect to those amazing Christian authors who DO write faith-based fiction, but I don’t think that’s what I want to do.

The Sandover Island books are really Christian LIGHT. Probably not enough faith to hit the Christian market. But too much for anyone who doesn’t want faith at all.

This was also the first series where I connected characters and realized how much I love found family. You’ll see lots of that in the books. Though, as I said, they stand alone better than, say, my Love Cliches or Sheet Cake books. You’ll encounter the same friend group and some connections, but they do a little better reading out of order.

I also started learning through this series that it was okay to lean into my humor. Sandover Beach Christmas is actually the book that solidified my desire to write romcoms. I’d been thinking about making the switch, and people’s responses to my humor in this one made me feel confident in this move. Around this time, I started writing Royally Rearranged AND Falling for Your Best Friend’s Twin.

The Sandover Island audiobooks will release on all retailers, but first from me.

I’m super excited to roll out the rest of the series. No idea WHEN but hopefully in the coming months! They will be on all retailers but will release direct from me FIRST.
